"The Genius of Leonardo", a major exhibition about the scientific and
engineering achievements of Leonardo da Vinci, opens in Turkey on 1st
November until 31st December 2006.
The exhibition consists of 40 full-sized reproductions of machines
envisaged in the famous manuscripts (Codices) of Leonardo between 1478
and 1513. The majority of the items will be on display at the Rahmi M.
Koç Museum in Hasköy, Istanbul. A few objects will be also on view at
the Çengelhan Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Ankara.
The exhibits are divided into five broad categories: Mechanisms; and
the four ancient elements of nature – Earth, Water, Air and Fire. All
are in working condition, and the majority can be operated by the
visitors themselves, thus making the exhibition cultural, educational,
and fun.
In parallel with the exhibition the Museum will be working with a
number of educational and charitable institutions to create exciting
projects and competitions based on the life and achievements of
Leonardo da Vinci.
The exhibition was brought together by the Rahmi M. Koç Museum with the
sponsorship of Arçelik A.Ş. and the assistance of event organisers The
Partners.
